Hello Goats
Hopefully the update yesterday will sort out the problems with the difficulty setting issues. I would now like you to let me know in the poll at what skill level you would prefer to play?
Feel free to post any comment/observations/recommendations.
Thank you
Simon

I personally think PRO will be a good place to start, however those who know me know i do not like been forced to play at a level i dont enjoy, and i wont force anyone to play at a level they dont enjoy. On saying that as the game progresses and players improve we will introduce higher level tours such as Master and Legend still keeping the Pro going and these will be open to all members, which i think is a good way to introduce members to a higher level rather than by force, they can test their skills at higher levels when they feel ready. Hopefully this will be the way forward for the society if the membership wishes, however we are still limited to what we can do in societies which was a big disappointment for me, i thought the new game would have brought new freedoms in the societies, but not much changed unfortunately.

What I am willing to accept, if Pro difficulty is accepted, that the aids section is set to open which makes available some aids to those who feel they still need them. However it should be pointed out that if any members are also trying to get on the top tours of TGCTours then they will be probably have to learn to play without the majority of aids on.

Just played the TGCTours (pro Am Tour ) which was set at pro with no power bar, or percentages, quite an interesting challenge, with this being a first go with these settings i surprised myself and shot 66 (-3) to be tied 2nd after rd 1. Enjoyable the challenge to say the least.

I too played the TGCTours (pro Am Tour ), I wasn't as fortunate as Les lol I either hit slow or fast, I can't find the middle. Putting is the big thing for me, no fluidity to the swing like in 2K19. I averaged around +8 for three rounds at pro, sitting somewhere around +24. My best was -6 playing at pro-am. I like the challenge at pro but it's frustrating when you can't stop bleeding bogies Onward randy

I really do think that Pro is a good level to set for all the Members, as the poll is clearly showing. I plan to leave some of the assists Open, so therefore up to each individual, so there may be some assistance there for you. I will see how the settings pan out against the scoring over the next few trials. I really think the putting is good in this version, I just find I move the mouse back to hardly get the club coming back and then hold until the power is where you think it should be the push forward. I will be leaving the Power Bar/Percentage/Off open for people to use as they wish. Keep plugging away and I am sure the new tempo/feel will improve leaps and bounds. Cheers Simon

Personally i think you should start with open, then gradually increase the difficult conditions to give the under dogs a good chance in the first round. Also there will be new players coming in who are new to the game. But that's my opinion.

Hi Kenneth If you mean Open for the skill level, not going to happen, we will have people coming in shooting ridiculous scores, back to the frustrations of TGC2019. Having mixed skill levels does not work in my opinion, never get a level playing field, making the whole reason of a competitive society pointless, handicapping from my experience doesn't work particularly well either. I had this poll and all members who bothered to vote have voted for Pro, so to me that is fairly conclusive of where people want to start. If other members feel the same way, I haven't heard from them. Cheers Simon

From the tournament I have set today I have left the Distance Control Meter open and will continue to do so until Members say otherwise. I hope that is good with you Les?

Nothing against you planned set up Simon, but I think the society settings are not completely working as people expect them to be.

The distance control option ('power bar') should definitely be off at some point. That's a game changer big time. People must learn to play without this assist as soon as possible, preferably after a couple of rounds. Especially with putting its a HUGE advantage which is UNFAIR to other players playing without like me. I have seen this aid while playing with players who have it on and pacing putts is almost a gimme. I've had it off from the get go as i find this type of aid only useful in practice mode for newby's. If this option remains open in tournaments i shall not play.

I will have a chat with Les and I think we need to decide what the settings are going to be and stick with it. At the moment I am setting these test events and all I get thrown at me is negativity, getting a bit fed up with it if I am honest.

I am very disappointed with the games decision to have all these levels and aids within the game taking the WGT and PG route, it simply divides communities. The way it was on 2019 with Beginner/ pro and master clubs was bad enough now you have all these new options and as long as we breath air you will never satisfy all your members, i stopped playing both WGT and PG because of this, i bought them games for enjoyment not to be told you must play the game at this level with these settings and i can see this game heading the same way. Maybe i need to set 2 events one for those who want power meter off and those who want it on, because that seems to be the only sticking point. If this route is taken both events will be open to all, if you want to play both you can if not you play the event you want, however ive decided not to do handicaps at this stage and see how it progresses. The one thing everyone seems to agree on is to start at pro setting and go from there. If anyone has any other ideas please post here.

For my part, i'm only pitching in to try to get a good sound and fair level playing field. Aids are great in practice mode or playing solo rounds (or even with friends in matches) if one is in to that, but when playing tournaments it should be crunched. Just like we have a GREAT handicap system now, which levels out the playing field to reflect the player's strength. 2K21 has thrown the options box wide open and that's great, but there should be a benchmark. Again: it's no reflection on you and the other Admins: i've always spoken highly on the TOG set up and will keep on doing so.

What you could do is set up 2 tournaments, like you write, and for the first -say 5 tournaments?-, play without hcps to get a good overview of the players strength? I do think the TOG handicap system is spot on and should definitely be in there. It's a signature thing in the game i think. You could put in hcps only for the 'closed' tournament (standard Pro with as few assists as possible = is the TGC proAm set up not a good starting point? Maybe with the Scout cam on ofcourse) and no hcps for the 'open' tournament? Maybe make the 'open' tournament at ProAm level? Just some thoughts.

Handy caps will not give a true meaning as we play the game with all setting on open, the handicap get higher with the most of the settings off the handicaps are lower. So there will be a lot of deviations, and that will not give a true reading of each player. Les you got the gist on my meaning of leaving some setting off . But if that is a problem forget it.

Ken, thats why i am a big believer in a fair level playing field. Tournament play must have a benchmark and aids should either not be in there at all or brought back to what we had in TGC19. The scout cam is a good example to leave in, as we had that in TGC19. Pro Vision all off should be no question really; same for power bar. But grids, yardages, wind strengths, aim marker, flag, those things can remain ofcourse. And, ultimately, a true handicap, so to give all players an equal chance to win, just like in normal medal/club play.

I just had a round at the PG Exiles and they played with the book which i didn't understand until it was pointed out to me. So I would suggest every one should try it out in case it comes up in a tourney.

With "Swing Timing ON" I can't compete. I can't hit a straight shot and I've tried everything, even closing my eyes to swing
Turn "Swing Timing OFF and I can hit most of my shots ok ... Most!

So I would suggest every one should try it out in case it comes up in a tourney. You mean the overview/'caddy' book option? That should remain in! Thats no aid as everybody who has played golf knows that caddy books are always allowed for playing. As far as i am concerned, all aids helping swing the club are out. Overviewing the course or green is just a normal in-game option.

My setting > Having it off it's just like hitting it on rails Randy. Your swing is locked in in a perfect swing path just like when using a swing trainer at home. I'm sorry, but that and the powerbar should always be forbidden in tournament play. You'll have to go back to the basics, maybe Amateur level or even beginner? Maybe that is an option for the Goats?: to have a lower level tournament also, for players who need more experience a/o time to get a better swing?

Didn't have to mess about with my settings I just needed to back out of Online Societies to main menu then go back in then the settings for one society do not overrule another society, which is completely lame.
